Designer Alan D. Olin filed a patent for a re-sealable packet for museli and the like that provides users with long product durability and – above all – more control for dosing. The trick is that the opening, which can be re-sealed with a classic pressure cap, is not located at the upper edge as usual but on the side – a fact that eases pouring substantially. The shape and size of the Easy Pour Bag can be determined individually by manufacturers. By Olin’s account, a size of approx. 40 x 30 cm is ideal. Convenient handling for consumers is not the only advantage this type of packaging offers. Companies also benefit from the lower material consumption and the reduced weight due to the outer box being rendered superfluous – a fact that also benefits the environment.
