NVC Night at the Planetarium opens eyes on innovation

Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Interactivity are rapidly advancing in the packaging world. Consumer behaviour is influenced via smartphone-apps, packaged product design is exploring totally new dimensions and even the remotest packaging equipment can now be supervised with help of VR by the central, highly qualified and 24/7 operational service and maintenance department. These and other amazing developments in packaging were shared 30 November 2017 at the unique ‘NVC Night at the Planetarium’ in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

 

Constantia Flexibles gives chocolate Santa Clause his typical look

Every year, Constantia Flexibles manufactures packaging for more than 50 percent of the 150 million chocolate Santa Clauses produced in Germany. With the company’s patented Tepro2® method, they can be unwrapped in one piece without breaking the chocolate. The aluminum foil prevents the migration of printing ink components and other substances from the outside and offers complete protection from the light.

The paperboard cartons for Jimmy Choo’s L’EAU that was launched in summer 2017 is a clear example of this. Its colour is pale pink apart from the brand, the name of the contents, and the fact that it is an eau de toilette. Yet the packaging has passed through twelve finishing stages.​

 

Constantia Flexibles to expand production capacity at Austrian pharma plant

Constantia Flexibles Group will invest a double-digit million euro amount in the expansion of production capacity at its manufacturing site for pharmaceutical packaging, Constantia Patz, in Austria.

 

The company will install one double-sided lacquering machine for foils and laminates, as well as one slitting machine operating in a new class 8 cleanroom. The extra capacity is expected to come on stream early 2019.

The environmental dividend that can be gained through targeted improvements in process engineering systems in high volume packaging production has been convincingly shown following close sustainability collaboration between Ardagh Group and Henkel. Ardagh’s specialist aerosol manufacturing plant in Wedel, Germany, has produced the world’s lightest three-piece steel aerosol container for a range of Henkel’s hairspray products, comprising predominantly the leading European brand Schwarzkopf Drei Wetter Taft.

An innovative spoon-in- the-lid from RPC Superfos for its popular 75mm container is guaranteed to make yogurts, desserts and other dairy products stand out from the crowd.

 

The new solution is perfect for consumers who eat on-the- go, with the foldable polypropylene spoon simple to access, assemble and use. The APET lid features a fine PET seal that is easy to tear off. As such, it represents a significant improvement over similar lids which are sealed with aluminium foil, and thus oblige the user to find the spoon with which to eat the product.

swop 2017, the leading processing and packaging exhibition in Asia, has attracted the greatest amount of attention from exhibitors since its inauguration. Just over 600 overseas and domestic exhibitors participated in the event held from Nov. 7-10, including Multivac, HPRPC and other leading processing and packaging manufacturers. 20,053 visitors from nearly 80 countries and regions, such as China, the USA, Russia, South Korea, Japan, India, Vietnam and Malaysia came to the SNIEC fairgrounds to see latest innovations.
