Cartons IMG00450-20110131-0857 Great looking cartons on top of great looking laminated tube. I think laminated tubes are quite strong and can be designed to move without any outer cartons. As I see the utility here for the cartons is limited. The carton is immediately thrown after opening and its the tube that remains in the bathroom. So its important that more display work is done on the tube rather than on the carton. This would also help in a big way to reduce the load on our forests as cartons are made of paper board. This could be another step in reducing and then less laod on recycling network also. Do you think we call can work in this direction and whether my think is right? Just an idea came to my mind when I opened the new toothpaste packet this morning.

you are right in a way Sandeep! There are enough innovative ideas of (recyclable) trays for display in the shelf to compensate the loss of branding due to elimination of a folding carton. Suitable shippers can be designed for the bulk shipping of the tubes to avoid any possible damages in transit. regards Chakravarthi AVPS

I AGREE WITH THE SUGESTION OF REMOVING THE OUTER PAPER CARTON. THE CURRENT LAMI TUBES ARE ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND ALL TYPES OF ROUGH USE . TO KEEP THE TUBE IN CIRCULAR SHAPE THE OUTER MAY BE WITH SOME THERMOFORMED SHELLS TO PLACE IT IN THE BULK PACKAGING ( CORUGATED CONTAINER0

Comment by Debashish Mandal: "Well, it depends. We are not having cartons in Kids toothpaste range of most pf the companies. In most of the kids toothpaste, tubes are with stand up caps and those are kept in the grooves of thermoformed trays in upside down position. Here tubes have got more space for branding & the graphic is eye catchy for Kids. So there is no need of cartons. I feel, in case of toothpaste, cartons are economical form of physical protection to tube and for branding also. If we remove cartons from toothpaste packaging, then alternate measure of protection to tube to be provided.

I think PE (extruded tube) can be a good option for toothpaste. it has good elastic properties by which it regain its shape. As truely said by Mr.Debashish Mandal, stand up caps gives more visibility and it is more suitable to have attractive graphics by any form of printing like Slik Screen, Offset , Digital, Hot Foil stamping etc.

Changes like this is what every nation must follow. Recycling is one thing which we must need to practice; otherwise, we will continue destroying our own environment. Every child in school must be taught how to recycle. Everyone must be informed about the importance of this matter in order to save the world for the future generations.

please suggest .. which is more economic using 1. Retail Ready Packages for supply chain from filling to retail shelf or 2. split approach for transit a bulk packed carton and for Retail  a display carton ! Thanku in advance !
