INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT FOR PACKAGING INDUSTRY (ISPI) was a concurrent event held along with Indiapack Pacprocess 2017. This event had been organized on 27 th and 28 th October at Hotel Eros, New Delhi with an objective to highlight the latest trends and technologies of various packaging material conversion technologies, packaging machineries with automation to increase the productivity and to reduce the wastage while also meeting the ever evolving requirements of modern day consumers.
During this event, professionals from packaging and related industries learned from various topics which had been covered by a galaxy of speakers from India and overseas. Mr. Ashok Chaturvedi, founder, chairman and managing director, Uflex, spoke at the event on 28th October as a keynote speaker. During his speech Mr. Chaturvedi shared his personal experience about his China Visit, issues faced by flexible packaging industry due to implication of latest government rules, present and future of flexible industry in terms of innovations.
Mr. Chaturvedi finds China as no threat in flexible packaging as India itself fulfills the demand of packaging material and feeding the market with utmost quality when compared to China. He further spoke in the event over the opportunities in plastic recycling if all stakeholders are willing to cooperate and make concerted efforts towards sorting, segregating and transporting waste to recycling points. Flexible packaging uses much less energy throughout the 3 phases of its life cycle i.e. Manufacturing; Transportation and Disposal. Recycling of paper consumes far more water and power.
Uflex has been constantly introducing value added innovative flexible packaging solutions and is steadfast on its journey to be among to top five players of the industry in the next five to six years. With growing demand in packaging, bright brains from this industry need more packaging institutes, hence Mr. Chaturvedi requested IIP (Indian Institute of Packaging ) to expand by opening more centers across pan India. He also called upon Government/Educational authorities to upgrade the status of IIP as University. Establishing packaging industry as a popular career option is very essential also emphasized Mr. Ashok Chaturvedi.
