Kyeongho Park and Yejin Heo, designers majoring in industrial design at Hanyang University’s ERICA campus in the Republic of Korea, have created new clothing packaging that not only dissolves in water but disperses washing detergents. After purchasing new clothes wrapped in a Zero Bag, the buyer can run both the clothes and the packaging through a washing machine before wearing the items for the first time.
The bag is made from algae and incorporates paper detergents that are attached to water-soluble plastic. By reducing plastic waste, the design highlights the duo’s focus on creating environmental and user-centered solutions through their work. The detergent could also be replaced with baking soda for other cleaning purposes. Park and Heo recently received a Lexus Design Award for the product.
