This collaboration between the packaging producer and the circular economy service provider and specialist for sorting and plastics recycling marks a significant milestone in closing the loop in plastics recycling, supporting both companies in their dedicated aim of eliminating waste in all its forms.
Coveris has already made substantial strides with its No Waste vision through the launch of ReCover, an innovative waste recycling process which advances the circular economy for plastics. Interzero's collected and sorted materials will now be processed by Coveris' ReCover entities, producing high-quality recycled resins through mechanical recycling in a quality unmatched in the market. These resins will then be used in Coveris’ high-performance packaging products, such as Duralite R collation films.
"We are excited about this partnership with Interzero as it aligns perfectly with our No Waste vision. By integrating well sorted post-consumer waste into our recycling processes, we are taking a significant step towards completely closing the loop," said Christian Kolarik, CEO at Coveris.
With this collaboration, Coveris and Interzero are creating an advantage in the entire value chain, helping to achieve key sustainability goals, such as reducing CO2 footprint, waste prevention, securing raw materials, and adhering to governmental packaging and waste regulations.
"Collaborating with Coveris allows us to leverage our expertise in waste collection and sorting to support the creation of high-quality recycled resins. Together, we can make a substantial impact on reducing waste. The circular economy is a joint project that benefits everyone. We are shaping the circular economy of tomorrow - for a world without waste," said Jan Kroker, CEO at Interzero.
