India Approves Use of Recycled PET for Food Packaging in Landmark FSSAI Regulation Update

Komori installs multiple packaging machines in India in FY 24-25

Komori India had reported 35 orders from India at drupa24 (held from 28 May – 7 June in Dusseldorf, Germany). The company already had a dozen orders for installations in hand by the end of April 2024. The remaining 23 machines were actual deals finalized during the printing and packaging show.

The Komori Group received orders for 150 machines during the show out of which one-fourth of the orders were from India, Jun Sudo, president, Komori India said in a previous interaction with Packaging South Asia.

New QV Tubes Set To Save Tonnes of Packaging Waste From Landfill

As environmental sustainability is becoming more and more crucial, Ego Pharmaceuticals is continuing to make positive changes by improving the packaging of its iconic QV products. 

In a move that aims to save around 18 tonnes of packaging waste from landfill every year, all QV tube products are now being transitioned from laminate to LDPE packaging. Laminate packaging cannot be recycled in Australia due to the recycling facilities not being able to process the components of the laminate, whereas LDPE can easily be recycled by customers in their kerbside recycle bins.

Diageo launches first 70cl paper-based bottle on-trade trial for Johnnie Walker

Created in partnership with PA Consulting, as part of the Bottle Collective with PA and PulPac, this is Diageo’s first paper-based 70cl bottle trial in the on-trade. The trial begins tomorrow and will assess how bartenders interact with and pour from the bottle, and how the bottle fares in a bar environment. A total of 250 paper-based bottles will be used with the trial expected to run until mid-October. Members of the public will be able to see the bottles in use behind the bar, however they cannot purchase the bottle.

New Delhi-based sustainable packaging startup Bumboo raises funding

While the exact amount remains undisclosed, the funding is set to fuel the startup's ambitious expansion plans in domestic and global markets.

Who are the investors?

The angel funding round saw participation from investors, including Rohan Bhargava, co-founder of CashKaro; Saurabh Gupta, CEO and co-founder of UrbanPiper; Shashank Bijapur, founder of SpotDraft; and Rajneil Kamath, formerly of Google and NC Media.

Other investors include Harikrishnan M of DMart, Sridhar V of Microsoft, and Rajat Jain of Think Wealth.
