The purpose-built warehouse is CHEP’s second Queensland facility, and will serve as a timber pallet repair and service centre, with an initial production capability to manage four million timber pallets.
Due for completion in October 2023, the new facility will enable CHEP to provide customers with reusable timber pallets and provide increased capacity, capability and efficiency, with an optimised layout for quicker vehicle turnaround times.
“Our relationship with CHEP is a great example of how our business is focused on the current and future needs of our customers,” said Jason Little, Australian CEO of Goodman Group.
“We worked with CHEP and identified Redbank as a complementary site to its existing locations.
“Redbank Motorway Estate offers excellent road connectivity to Greater Brisbane for CHEP to meet rising service expectations, the needs fo their customers and employees. It also provides opportunities to be sustainable.”
CHEP’s investment in the network follows the opening of its plastic pallet and containers washing facility at Goodman’s Rochedale Estate in 2022.
Designed to optimise environmental performance, the new CHEP facility is highly sustainable and a carbon neutral development.
Environmental features include a 450kW rooftop solar system, LED and motion sensor lighting, smart metering to reduce energy consumption, rainwater harvesting capable of reusing water for onsite irrigation and toilet flushing, and electric vehicle charging bays for passenger vehicles.
“Following on from opening our premium plastic pallet and containers wash facility in Rochedale late last year, this service centre strengthens CHEP’s ongoing and significant investment in industry leading facilities in Queensland, and supports CHEP’s full suite of reusable platforms enabling supply chains of tomorrow,” explained Jason Collins, regional operations director – Queensland at CHEP Australia.
CHEP’s service centre is strategically and conveniently located to provide fast and efficient connectivity for customers. Featuring the latest CHEP repair equipment, nail rollers and digital quality checkers, the new site will support optimal conditioning processes supporting pallet quality.
Redbank Motorway Estate offers excellent transport connectivity located off the Ipswich Highway with toll-free access to Brisbane’s CBD and direct links to Logan Motorways, Cunningham/Warrego Highways, and the Centenary, Gateway and M1 Motorways.
