As part of the operation, Asaduzzaman Rumel, Assistant Director of DNCRP Manikganj district office, led a drive in the Dudhbazar area of the district town on Friday afternoon. As per media report, the trader in question, Masud Khan, the proprietor of M/S Al Masud General Store, allegedly stored low-quality sugar intended for sale under the brand name Teer, with a total stock of 25 tons earmarked for Ramadan.
Acting on a tip-off, the DNCRP district office conducted the operation, seizing 25 tons of sugar packed in 50 sacks. Asaduzzaman Rumel stated, “The fine was imposed on the trader by the director general of the directorate, AHM Safikuzzaman, and Deputy Commissioner Rehena Akhtar. The operation received cooperation from the general secretary of district Caab Samchunnabi Tulip and members of Sadar police station.”
