Maggi today announced a positive change to its iconic cup noodles with the launch of Maggi Mug Noodles, reducing plastic packaging by 83%1.
New Maggi Mug Noodles are designed to go straight into a standard at-home mug – simply add boiling water – perfect for the over 50% of Aussie noodle lovers who enjoy their instant cup noodles at home2.
The new Maggi Mug Noodles are available in four-packs, in popular chicken and beef flavours. Maggi noodles will still be available in the original plastic cup format for those looking for an on-the-go instant noodle option.
Nestlé Head of Marketing – Foods, Monique Koning said “We know many of our consumers enjoy eating instant noodles in a cup at home3 - so we have re-thought the cup.”
The launch marks just one exciting milestone for Maggi as it works to reduce the impact of its packaging as part of its sustainability journey.
In addition, Maggi 2-Minute Chicken and Beef Noodles wrappers are now made with 50% recycled plastic5 - saving enough virgin plastic to cover over 400 football fields a year.4
"The Maggi team is proud to be at the forefront of reducing plastic packaging in the instant noodle category. This is only the beginning of our journey,” Monique said.
Both Maggi Mug Noodles and Maggi 2-Minute Chicken and Beef Noodles wrapped in 50% recycled plastic, using the mass balance approach5, are rolling out on shelves now.
