two polish students have taken important steps towards future careers as packaging designers thanks to a competition cosponsored by the polish glass operation of international packaging company, ardagh group. &lsquothe art of packaging&rsquo, organised by european media group in poznan, brought together design students from art colleges throughout poland and professional designers who competed in various categories to find the most creative packaging design talents in the country. ardagh, who have glass design and manufacturing units in gosty, ujcie and wyszków, was one of the sponsors in the debuts category. participants were given a brief to create a glass container and the very high standard of work made judging especially difficult. the winner of the cash prize was joanna kasperkiewicz from wroclaw art college. her highly distinctive salsa jar had, in the opinion of the judges, met the brief perfectly, and had that &lsquomagical&rsquo quality.  the internship award went to katarzyna surma from poznan art college for her range of very elegant mineral water bottles with three different embossed designs. katarzyna will be benefitting from a 3month internship at ardagh&rsquos design studio in gosty. barbara maciaczyk from ardagh explains &bdquo as a major company in the polish packaging industry we support initiatives to encourage the next generation of designers. &bdquothe &lsquoart of design was an ideal opportunity for design students to showcase their creativity, and we were very impressed by the instinctive way the two winners applied their knowledge of glass as a packaging material to produce some very original outcomes.&rdquo
