finlandbased packaging solutions provider stora enso and german packaging printer pfäffle have partnered to create digitally printed packaging for chocolate and confectionery products.stora enso has supplied board materials for the new packaging.earlier this month, pfäffle had commenced operations at a new hp indigo 30000 digital printing press which primarily focuses on folding carton applications.the product has been trialled with chocolate producers and retail brands and stora enso is consulting them to ensure ideal print quality of substrates, including ensocoat, performa, tambrite and ckb boards.pfäffle managing director detlef behrens said "with digital printing, we are able to produce small and medium quantities in as good quality as offset at a very competitive price. beside quality and price, time to market and personalization will be the main drivers for this growing business."our future plan is that our customers can expect delivery times and services that go beyond litho printing."the inks used on hp 30000 are said to comply with food regulations.stora enso&39s digitally printed confectionery boxes are showcased at the ongoing prosweets 2015.
