Henkel and Weener Plastics (WP) have become provocative closure design into reality. The result is an appealing, functional dispensing closure that perfectly complements the newly designed bottle and has the ultimate mix of characteristics: a sustainable system with excellent pouring behavior, suitable for e-commerce use and optimal efficiency in manufacturing and logistics.
To meet the packaging demands of Henkel's premium brand Persil WP developed a two-piece dispensing closure, consisting of a spout portion and a cap portion. A separate doser has been designed, which can be used as a dosing device or can be placed directly in the machine. Optimized functionality and attractive aesthetics go hand in hand.
E-commerce
One of the challenges was to prevent leakage at the micro (sealing) and macro (ruptured packaging) levels, which can be an issueduring transport. To overcome this challenge, a soft sealing element was integrated into both closure parts to ensure tight sealing during transportation. The product has been tested and approved for highly demanding parcel delivery requirements, proving that Henkel and WP have found the right solution.
Sustainability
Due to sustainability reasons AISE, the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products, has initiated the next step to more concentrated liquids in the European market. Henkel is committed to minimizing environmental impact of the laundry process, driving the demand for concentrated detergents. This requires smaller dosing volumes and packaging formats. Henkel & WP carried out extensive testing to determine the ideal pouring behavior. The smart spout design helps consumers accurately and can empty the bottle completely after the last usage.
The dispensing closure is manufactured in one of WP's state-of-the-art factories. Highly advanced, fully automated equipment is used to check the product quality of each and every product before assembly of the parts. A high quality, reliable packaging is guaranteed in this way.
