Continuity and change at the top of GDA
Dr.-Ing. Hinrich Mählmann re-elected as President of GDA / Marius Baader appointed Managing Member of GDA’s Executive Committee
Düsseldorf, September 26, 2019 - Düsseldorf-based Gesamtverband der Aluminiumindustrie (GDA) made important personnel decisions at its annual general meeting that will affect the association’s future. Hinrich Mählmann (62), President of GDA, was re-elected for a further three-year term of office. In addition, GDA's Executive Committee appointed the association’s current Managing Director, Marius Baader (47), to succeed its outgoing Executive Member, Christian Wellner, with effect from 1 October 2019.
Oliver Höll, CEO of the Alltub Group and, in this capacity, Managing Director of Karl Höll GmbH & Co. KG, Langenfeld, and Roland Leder, Vice President Finance & CFO at Aleris Europe, Koblenz, were re-elected as Vice-Presidents of the association. Mr Leder is also President of the WirtschaftsVereinigung Metalle, Berlin. Thomas Reuther, member of the executive board of TRIMET Aluminium SE, Essen, was confirmed as Treasurer of GDA.
Hinrich Mählmann has been the personally liable partner of OTTO FUCHS KG, Meinerzhagen, since 2008. In addition to these functions, he is also responsible for sales operations at OTTO FUCHS KG. Dr.-Ing. Hinrich Mählmann has held various positions on GDA committees for many years.
Marius Baader succeeds Christian Wellner, who has worked for associations of the aluminium industry for 37 years, including 30 years in management functions and at the head of GDA. He is now retiring. Marius Baader has known the aluminium industry and GDA for many years. After completing his studies, he began his professional career at GDA in 2002 as head of Market and Statistics. In 2007 he then moved to VDA, the German automotive industry’s trade association based in Berlin. He held several management positions there and was most recently head of the Suppliers, SMEs and Start-ups department. He has been Managing Director of GDA since 1 April 2019 and has taken the opportunity since then to familiarise himself with all aspects of the association's work.
