Coveris has once again raised the bar in sustainable packaging with its PolyFlex solution, awarded “Best New Concept” at the UK Packaging Awards. Targeted at block cheese, PolyFlex offers a high-barrier, recyclable alternative to traditional nylon laminates. Its unique polyolefin structure, recyclable through front-of-store systems, maintains a 120-day shelf life without compromising on quality. With over 3.5 billion cheese blocks sold annually in the UK, PolyFlex could significantly shift the industry towards more sustainable options, especially ahead of new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations.
Joining the already successful MonoFlexBE for grated cheese, PolyFlex represents Coveris’ ongoing innovation in sustainable packaging, enabling retailers to meet recyclability targets while potentially reducing costs. Technical Director Mark Robinson highlighted that this breakthrough reinforces Coveris’ commitment to a more sustainable future in cheese packaging.
