Earthfirst® Films, a pioneer in bio-material film solutions, has introduced Earthfirst® Compostable Laminations—a new line of market-ready, unprinted pre-laminations designed for high barrier and durability. These laminations, known as pre-lams, are optimized for digital printing, offering brands enhanced customization, low minimum order quantities, and faster time-to-market.
The initial product in the lineup is the Earthfirst® PouchReady Metallized film, a 4mil multi-layer structure that provides exceptional barrier properties, strength, and compatibility with zipper closures—ideal for the needs of flexible pouch applications. Future expansions will include laminations tailored for additional market segments.
Driven by a strong demand from small and medium-sized brands (SMBs), this innovation provides immediate inventory and dramatically reduces commercialization times. “Brands benefit from reliable material science and a faster route to market,” stated Kelly Williams, Managing Director of the Lamination Division at Earthfirst® Films. “Digital printers gain from pre-lams that allow them to focus on printing, while co-packers benefit from laminations specifically engineered for their equipment.”
Crafted from bio-based, renewable materials, Earthfirst® Laminations contribute to a circular economy, regenerating resources by composting packaging and any residual food content. This process returns carbon and nutrients to the soil, fostering soil health and resilience. All Earthfirst® Laminations are FDA-compliant for food contact, making them a sustainable choice for food packaging.
