Since the implementation of the EU Falsified Medicines Directive, tamper-proof pharmaceutical packaging has become essential. Security seals for secondary packaging serve as a reliable indication of first opening. Furthermore, the upcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) mandates waste reduction, reusable packaging, and the use of recycled materials. Transitioning from conventional to sustainable materials reduces CO2 emissions by approximately 28% at the film level and achieves emission reductions of up to 35% in product carbon footprint (PCF) analysis. Schreiner MediPharm's use of green electricity since 2013 and modern heat pump implementation further contribute to this reduction.
