We all know that excessive packaging is Bad, in the same way that recycling, walking everywhere and raising money for limping kittens is Good. Russian-born, Prague-based designer Vadim Kibardin has ensured a firm place on the latter list with his Clock Box – a quartz timepiece with a case created entirely from its own packaging. Made of corrugated fibreboard, the clock is surprisingly attractive given its humble components.
Lauded by graphic design magazine Kak as one of the top 100 best projects and events in Russian design, the Clock Box can be wall mounted and comes in two sizes. Functioning as a truly neat solution to wastage, it would seem the days of thoughtless packaging could be well and truly numbered.
