Started back in 2007, Help for Heroes is a British based charity raising money for those soldiers wounded in the Afghanistan and Iraq conflict. The organization offers numerous ways to show your support from financial donations on their webpage, to fundraising bike rides and parachuting challenges! Their latest product fundraiser is called Eggs for Soldiers, and a portion of every egg crate sold will be donated to the charity. Managing Director of Springetts Andy Black comments, “We wanted to create a brand that would show support for the sacrifice made by the members of all our armed services.
Eggs for Soldiers playfully makes the association in its tone and the product, being a commodity bought regularly, makes it effortless for consumers to show their support.” The packaging for these eggs certainly has a military theme as the crate material is the distinct army green. The retail shelf containers also reflect a military uniform by being made to resemble a woven material complete with bronze buckles. My favorite part of the packaging, however, is the egg and toast graphic printed on the top of the crate. The careful design of the piece of toast with egg subtly mimics the Help for Heroes medal on the organizations logo (image below), for a fantastic way to connect product to brand.
