Sappi jointly with Felix Schoeller developed an exciting paper-based packaging solution for Belgian chocolate producer Delafaille. The two companies have developed a paper-based, sealable packaging solution with high-barrier properties against water vapour, oxygen and grease. This solution has grease and mineral oil barriers and also prevents the ingress of oxygen and water vapour, and is being used with the company’s luxury Amusette chocolate brand. The brand needed a paper type that could be used with no additional foil lamination, coating or adhesive, minimising the production costs involved and environmental footprint. This innovative high-barrier paper-based packaging solution can also be used for flexible packaging applications. This product was showcased by company in Interpack 2017
