Presto Products Company has announced the launch of a new zipper tape to help manufacturers of individual quick frozen (IQF) foods to improve their line efficiencies.
The resealable, press-to-close technology is specially designed for unsupported poly-bag applications on vertical form, fill and seal machinery. The zipper tape offers a scored tear-off option for improved barrier protection during shipping compared to other perforate-to-tear options on the market. Created with an extruded die-line, this tear-off option better protects against particles and potential contaminants the products may come into contact with along the supply chain, Presto Products said.
It added that the innovation addresses the challenge posed by existing zipper tape options to IQF meat, poultry, vegetable and fruit packagers.
The company was exhibit the zipper tape at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2015.
Presto Specialty Group president Brad Hansen said: “Advanced automation calls for advanced packaging materials. IQF food manufacturers looking to automate their lines to streamline efficiency will have a cost-efficient zipper tape alternative that helps to increase productivity.”
