Nefab’s Award-Winning Packaging Solutions
• EdgePak Collar: A Sustainable One-Way Pallet Collar
The EdgePak Collar is a lightweight, fiber-based alternative to wooden pallet collars designed specifically for one-way shipments. This innovative solution offers convenience while significantly reducing CO2-eq emissions and landfill waste.
• Corrugated Monitor Packaging for GE HealthCare
This plastic-free, mono-material packaging solution for GE HealthCare’s CARESCAPE Canvas™ patient monitors was recognized in the “Electronics” category. “Shipping a huge, high-value glass screen without layers of protective foam might seem unthinkable. That’s exactly what GE HealthCare and Nefab have achieved with this packaging solution,” said Erik Tigerstedt, Lean Manufacturing Leader for Patient Care Solutions, GE HealthCare. “Designed specifically for CARESCAPE Canvas patient monitors, this plastic-free packaging defies expectations by ensuring sufficient protection without traditional plastic cushioning materials.” According to GreenCALC™, Nefab's Life Cycle Analysis tool, the innovative design significantly enhances efficiency by increasing packing speed, reducing package size by 34%, cutting CO2-eq emissions by 23%, lowering landfill waste by 25%, and decreasing costs by 46%.
• Single-Use Bulk Packaging for Steering Mechanism Units
Developed by Nefab Hungary, the new solution optimizes space, enabling 50% more products to be shipped per load. This reduces transportation costs and cuts CO2-eq emissions by 211 tons annually.
“These awards reflect our ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Johan Tegell, Group Strategic Product Director - Fiber Solutions at Nefab. “We are proud to collaborate with partners who share our vision of creating efficient, environmentally friendly packaging solutions.”
This year’s winners were chosen from a record-breaking 550 entries from 40 countries. Since 2022, Nefab has secured eight WorldStar Awards, highlighting its leadership in innovation and sustainable packaging. The WorldStar 2025 Awards Ceremony, where Nefab will be recognized for its accomplishments, is set to take place on May 30, 2025, in Milan, Italy.
