For the second year in a row, Appetite Creative Solutions has help them spread and promote their sustainability message, by merging Tetra Pak’s commitment to the environment, with Appetite’s expertise in web app creation and marketing.

In particular, Proseal will highlight how its machines are able to ensure seal quality and maintain product freshness while using the minimum amount of plastic necessary.

In the UK, Europe and North America, Proseal has been the driving force behind the replacement of traditional clam-shell punnets with top film tray sealed varieties, which reduces plastic consumption by up to 45%. With the introduction of non-plastic materials for trays, such as cardboard and the latest recyclable or home compostable materials, plastic usage can be further reduced by as much as 96%.

As the company explained, its latest series is certified as ethically sourced by the Rainforest Alliance, and sourced from Ghana, Cameroon and Ivory is readily biodegradable, and 100% natural, and represent a further revenue stream from crops typical destination for the confectionery sector.

Over the last twelve years, Big Marble Farms has grown from 5 to 55 acres. "And we have lots more expansion planned for the coming years," the team reveals. Big Marble Farms also markets greenhouse products from roughly 25 Albertan growers spanning nearly 200 acres. The name was born out of the founders’ desire to weave sustainability into the operations. Packaging provided a major opportunity for this.

REDUCING GREENHOUSE GASES BY 90 %

Greenhouse gases from industrial applications can be slashed by almost 90% when green technology is implemented in machine and system engineering. A study from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) carried out on behalf of the VDMA e. V. (Mechanical Engineering Industry Association) produced this conclusion.

“Positive-impact packaging is a long-term journey that aims to better inform our clients,” says Lyne Hélène Bouchard, Quadpack Sustainability Champion. “But above all, it’s a commitment with the future. Our ultimate goal is to give back to the environment more than what we took.”

Quadpack has opted for the LCA (life-cycle assessment) tool to measure indicators such as water consumption, waste and pollution. Key LCA pillars are being considered for the strategy, circularity and carbon footprints being the most important ones.
