Denny Bros is set to unveil a full colour synthetic multi-page label at Packaging Innovations show. For the first time in its history, Denny Bros has developed a full colour triple decker synthetic label which can be printed in full colour throughout the entire booklet in few processes. The product allows five panels to be printed all in colour along a 3ply synthetic label in very few print passes. Stephie Ward, senior marketing executive, said: “We have spent much time testing and perfecting it to achieve this end result – and we are delighted with it.

The UAVA Lava Clothing packaging was awarded in the Household category of WorldStar 2017, the international packaging prize promoted by the World Packaging Organization (WPO). The bottleneck of the tapered packaging has a texture that gives greater grip on the handle even than with wet hands as normally occurs in the use of the product. The shape even in the corners is rounded leaving the organic bottle, sympathetic, remembering molecules. Straight sides favor transport.

Uflex has come up with a special polyester film as an alternative to the tradition BOPA and PVC substrates used in cold formed pharma packaging. According to the company, the special polyester film will eventually replace the top and bottom substrates of the conventional cold formed alu–alu laminate to a whole new structure comprising 36 micron special polyester; 50 micron soft aluminium foil and 36 micron special polyester.

A new aluminium foil wrapper, called Unshredded Wrap, from Constantia Flexibles’ ends the frustration of chocolate lovers trying to peel off the protective layer in little bits. The ‘elastic’ coating on the foil means it comes off in one piece. To achieve this, Constantia Flexibles created a special ‘elastic lacquer’ which is applied on the foil (outside or inside). This enables easy unwrapping of small chocolate balls, eggs, seasonal products or even chocolate bars/tablets, as it stretches like an elastic band, so the wrapper comes off in one piece with no shredding.

The CornerPack bag is a packaging solution that provides an opening aid which can be used in the corresponding films (for example BOPP) and at the same time is so intuitive in its application that instructions are not needed. The CornerPack has semi-circular tear lines on both sides in the upper corners of the package. In this innovative packaging concept, the tear follows the tear line, resulting in a controlled opening of the packaging. The resulting opening in the corner of the bag in turn allows controlled removal and pouring of the bag contents.

The Frangible Formpack® Blister is a multi-chamber pharmaceutical blister that enables moisture-sensitive active ingredients such as drugs, vaccines or diagnostic reactants to be contained in the same package safely, prior to being mixed and dispensed. It has been jointly developed by Amcor Flexibles and machine builder Rohrer – Leading Solutions. One chamber can be filled with a dry powder incorporating the active ingredient, the other one with a liquid. Thanks to the peelable frangible seal which opens the channel, both components are mixed by pushing on the cavities.
