Seven months after the launch of the Frugal Cup, the UK’s first fully recyclable coffee cup made of recycled paper, Frugalpac has revealed its Frugal Cup Linerless, offering new and existing customers even more sustainable products to choose from.

Made from virgin paper, sourced entirely from sustainably accredited forests, the Frugal Cup Linerless is specially treated with a unique coating which makes it suitable for hot and cold drinks while still allowing the pulp to break down during the standard paper recycling process.

The beer brand, owned by Belgian beverage giant Anheuser-Busch InBev SA except for in the U.S., said Thursday that using barley straw--combined with fully-recycled wood fibers--instead of traditional virgin wood pulp uses 90% less water, along with less energy and fewer harsh chemicals. Brewers use barley seeds to make beer, but barley straw is leftover from farmers' harvests.
