Unilever brand Pot Noodle is trialing paper pots for its instant noodle soups with UK supermarket Tesco. The new pots can reportedly be recycled at home with other paper waste and include on-pack recycling labels to guide shoppers on correct disposal. 

The new design marks the brand’s biggest innovation in its packaging since its launch over 40 years ago. Pot Noodle, the UK’s “biggest” instant hot snack brand, says the new paper pot has launched with an initial stock of 500,000 for the brand’s Chicken & Mushroom flavor.

In a world first, an innovative alternative to plastic shrink film on 1.5 litre multipacks of Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite is now available for consumers in Austria.

Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite sold in Austria will now have a 100% recyclable carrier and paper wrap that’s easy for consumers to carry and recycle – and for retailers to stack for sale.

The industry-first packaging can support the weight of a six pack of 1.5 litre bottles, or around 9 kg.

In doing so, Chase Plastics will aim to ensure that recovered ocean LDPE is recycled so that it can usefully contribute to the Circular Economy. Once recycled, the resultant rPE will be available to purchase directly from Chase Plastics or via Summit Systems who will also distribute the product. 

London-based Greenback Recycling Technologies Ltd. has acquired fellow United Kingdom-based plastics recycling technology provider Enval Ltd.

Two companies have merged their operations, "creating an industry leader in next-generation recycling of plastics,” Greenback says. The acquisition takes place following the inauguration of Greenback’s recycling plant in Cuautla, México, that uses the Enval technology.

The combined company will be headed by Greenback CEO Philippe von Stauffenberg.
