Documents from proposal trustees posted on their website Friday show Joriki Inc. filed a notice of intention with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada in Toronto on Dec. 31.

Insolvent companies use this mechanism to avoid liquidation and get enough breathing room from creditors so they can keep their business afloat.

The documents include a notice to creditors listing more than 100 companies that collectively have claims totalling more than $200 million.

Joriki has three facilities in Canada and one in the U.S., which is owned by a subsidiary.

Paludicultures, including reed, peat moss, and reed canary grass, are already utilized as food, animal feed, and building materials. However, because of their low lignin content, peatland plants can also be a desirable substitute for wood as a source of raw materials for environmentally friendly paper packaging.

The partnership combines to overcome the technical challenges associated with scaling up to larger flexible packaging formats using recycle ready materials.

In this collaboration, Greiner Packaging supplies the body of the capsule, while Constantia Flexibles provides an EcoPressoLid. The capsule body preserves the freshness of the coffee and is compatible with conventional coffee capsule machines. 

This solution offers consumers a more sustainable option without compromising on quality or convenience, and supports a circular economy by reducing waste and minimizing environmental impact.

As part of the company's ongoing commitment to sustainability, URefill aims to revolutionise how everyday products are purchased and used, making a significant impact on both environment and consumer habits.

The 'URefill Machine' is the first-ever refill machine designed for dispensing liquid products to consumers, says a statement.

The limited-edition design is featured in its 1kg tub range, to encourage consumers to be ‘tub-aware’, or ‘aware’ of food waste, by pushing people to reuse the yoghurt ‘tub’ to store and reinvent their leftovers.
