‘Diwali’ is coming on Tuesday i.e. 13th Nov 2012. Diwali, is a major Indian festival that is very significant in Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism. Celebrated by more than 1 billion Hindus and Jains and known as the "Festival of Lights," and lamps (called diyas or kandils) are lit as a sign of celebration and hope for humankind. The name "Diwali" is a contraction of "Deepavali" which translates into "row of lamps". Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps (diyas or dīpas) filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. During Diwali, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends.
