- Manufacturing details are associated with unique identification code and code is securely printed at the point of manufacturing.
- printed code can be associated with primary, secondary or tertiary packaging
- Global verification can be done through sms or Internet or GPRS in real time
- Inique ID is verified with the original data.
- Invalid entries are tarcked and processed to manufactureres for further tracking.
But now do you know what is the biggest problem that can kill this such a sophisticated system? When eveything is so good then there would be some bad points too?
I thought about it and did ask this question in one of the seminars during panel discussions on this topic. The buyer/consumer sends the sms to the number which is mentioned on the package. If the counterfeiters would print the wrong number having their own data then they will be sending authentication for their wrong products. Consumers will be getting the reassurance of the wrong product to be good. So from my point of view this is too dangerous. To handle this, we must first come out with one simple global number where sms should be sent. This global number for SMS should be well advertised otherwise we are in a fix.
