In 2023, Heineken celebrates its 150th anniversary. As part of this anniversary, the Dutch brand has chosen to promote more environmentally friendly consumption patterns. In September, Heineken opted for a strong bias: the brewer completely removed its name from its cans in favor of the words “  Recyclable  ”, which it considered to be “  the essential advantage of this container  ”. This in its 33 cl and 50 cl formats and in all GMS circuits. This shows that the number 1 signature in the department has confidence in its notoriety!

International packaging giant Eviosys has revealed its latest innovation, Ecopeel^TM. 200 years of expertise and innovation has produced an industry first: a processable food can with a sleek, peelable foil directly sealed on the can body. 

Ecopeel^TM has been designed with sustainability, convenience and inclusivity at its core. By replacing the traditional ring-pull with foil, Ecopeel^TM is lighter and offers a 20% carbon reduction per can. 

The scale and urgency of the current climate crisis can feel, at times, both completely and utterly overwhelming and extremely frightening. And although our individual, day-to-day choices are important when it comes to tackling the ongoing climate breakdown, experts frequently say that if we’re going to create a truly sustainable future, change is largely in the hands of politicians, policymakers and big businesses.

Finland-based Neste and Prime Polymer, a subsidiary of Japan-based Mitsui Chemicals, have developed a renewable polypropylene packaging material for a seaweed snack sold by CO/OP, a brand of the Japanese Consumers Co-operative Union (JCCU). The product, whose bio-content is attributed through the mass balance method, is the first of its kind to receive the Eco Mark certification from the Japan Environment Association (JEA).
