Why is blockchain important to the packaging industry?

What is it?
A Blockchain is a database of records, here called blocks. What makes the database special is that these records are interlinked, or chained, using a hidden code. This is useful in a supply chain involving transport and transactions that can be recorded as blocks. Each block contains a cryptographic link to the previous block plus information on when a transaction occurred, who was involved and much more.

Award Recognition for Soft Plastic Recycling Initiative

The successful collaborative project bringing together Heinz and Tesco with packaging industry leader Berry Global and recycling technology experts Plastic Energy and Sabic to develop Heinz Beanz Snap Pots made with 39 percent recycled plastic has been recognized with a Silver Award in the global Packaging Innovation Awards.

The award recognizes how the project has improved sustainability for the Heinz Snap Pots while retaining what makes them so popular with consumers: handy snappable format, microwave-ready and freshness retention.

Gauger named chair of Packaging Valley Germany

Cluster co-founder Hansen proposed Gauger as his successor, which was unanimously accepted by the board. Gauger has been active as spokeswoman of the marketing working group since its foundation in 2007, as well as an assessor and later as deputy chairwoman. She was responsible for marketing at the Optima Packaging Group for 15 years.
