The closure on aveda&rsquos clove shampoo is made from recycled polypropylene made from capscollected at its retail networkin the process, the cosmetics company has updated a package first introduced in 1978 with a modern imperative. The company&rsquos clove shampoo container is now made from 96 percent postconsumer highdensity polyethylene hdpe, one of the few personalcare packages made almost entirely from recycled hdpe. Even the cap is made from recycled material, in this case polypropylene, coming from its stores and salons that are collecting the material. The use of recycled content is not new to aveda. The company moved to 96 percent recycled plastic for bottles with its new men&rsquos line in 2007, and 35 percent of the plastic in its tubes also comes from recycled plastic.
