label and packaging material producer avery dennison has invested &euro7m to expand its plant in gotha, central germany by enhancing its coating and laminated capabilities for selfadhesive label and packaging films.the company has made this investment to meet the growing market demand for filmic products with ultrahigh levels of clarity and cleanliness.as a part of the expansion, a tandem silicone and adhesive laminating line, an additional slitting area and a new shipping hall will be added to the facility.the expansion will increase the facilities&39 topcoating capacity by 50 million m2 and add 33 to the operational space of the plant which would allow the company to meet expected short term increases in demand and also support long term growth.avery dennison materials group europe vice president and general manager angelo depietri said "this investment in our gotha plant is an important development for avery dennison, and our customers will benefit from improved effectiveness and efficiency not only of our own operations but also of theirs."we are now able to optimize our wider european film coating operations, creating a significant increase of overall laminating capacity in europe."apart from investing in new machinery, the company has also converted its existing offline machines. an integrated inline process is being used to carry out silicone and adhesive coating and laminating.the tandem coater machine has been placed in a dustfree closedoff and separated area, under positive air pressure which ensures minimal contamination and helps in improving product quality and cleanliness enhanced printability.
