Wolfertschwenden, August 3, 2020 - MULTIVAC has been awarding a sponsorship award since 2011 to students who have written an outstanding master's thesis in the fields of food technology and packaging technology at the Weihenstephan Science Center at the Technical University of Munich. In honor of the initiator and long-standing CEO of the group, who retired at the end of 2019, the award has now been renamed the “Hans-Joachim Boekstegers Förderpreis”. This year Paula Goderbauer received the award for her work on the subject of "Development of water-soluble milk capsules for use in coffee and tea", which she developed together with her industrial partner frischli Milchwerke GmbH. As a result of the current Corona restrictions, the award was not presented as usual on the day of the Faculty of Brewing and Food Technology at the Weihenstephan Science Center. Instead, the winner was honored by the jury in a video conference at the Weihenstephan Science Center. The prize is endowed with 1,000 euros. The master's thesis was selected by a committee made up of two professors from the Technical University of Munich and two company representatives from MULTIVAC. Both the quality of the submitted work and the relevance of the respective topic for research and industry were assessed. "With the Hans-Joachim Boekstegers sponsorship award, we are honoring work this year that is characterized in particular by an innovative and sustainable approach and that sets significant impulses in the field of bio-based packaging materials," the jury explained their decision. Christian Traumann, Managing Director of MULTIVAC, added: “By renaming the award to the Hans-Joachim Boekstegers sponsorship award, we would also like to honor our valued, long-standing colleague who has worked tirelessly in the areas of research and development, education and, in particular, the most diverse Research cooperation with universities and technical colleges has started - and, last but not least, the promotion of young talents has always been a special concern. ”The award, which was initiated by Hans-Joachim Boekstegers, will therefore bear his name for the time being.
