Coperion has commenced operations at its Recycling Innovation Center in Niederbiegen near Weingarten, Germany. This cutting-edge facility serves as an advanced test center for optimizing and implementing plastics recycling applications. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the center enables comprehensive testing across various recycling process steps, covering material handling, extrusion, pelletizing, compounding, material postprocessing, and deodorization. The facility features customizable, fully functional recycling systems to meet specific recyclate production requirements. Key technologies include the FLUIDLIFT ecodry flash drying process, MIX-A-LOT bulk solid mixer, ARW discharge agitator for buffer hopper solutions, Smart Weigh Belt (SWB) feeder, and ZS-B MEGAfeed side feeder for flakes and fibers. Coperion's Recycling Innovation Centre allows customers to simulate the entire plastics recycling process, offering significant value before making investments. The facility complements the Herbold Meckesheim Test Centre for mechanical pretreatment of plastic, part of Coperion's Recycling Business Unit since 2022. The site is also adjacent to Coperion's existing Test Centre for Bulk Solids Handling. The center has already conducted initial tests focused on developing sustainable products and refining recycling processes, emphasizing the adaptability of recycling technologies to create efficient compounds while ensuring high product quality. Coperion recycling business unit general manager Massimo Serapioni expressed pride in delivering substantial added value to customers as a supplier of complete recycling systems.
