a fresh new can that can be safely and easily opened and closed using the minimum amount of material possible, therefore saving material and processing costs. it can be manufactured by the same process as conventional easyopen canends, but by comparison can decrease injury rates, carbon footprint and food waste through reclosure. to open a can which incorporates the new canend the consumer clips a plastic opener over the can and gives it a gentle quarter turn. lifting off the opener removes the canends central panel, which can be safely ejected into recycling. an added feature is that partially consumed contents can be stored by refitting to close the can for later consumption. the opener, which can be heavily branded, resembles a plastic jar cap and is completely reusable.
