rodes united methodist church is trying to help giving some hunger relief to poor countries around the world in a continuing project that is carrying out a foodpackaging event. through fundraisers and offerings, such a pancake supper in the month of april, the church has gathered 2,500 to give to stop hunger now, which is an international organization for hunger relief. the website of stop hunger now states that meal packaging provided by stop hunger now&rsquos program offers volunteers the chance to package highly nutritious, high protein and dehydrated meals that are used mainly to support development programs as well as to save lives in developing countries around the globe. the organization will get in food ingredients, such as soy, dehydrated vegetables, rice and a vitaminrich flavoring mix, as well as the packaging materials to the church building in afton, so volunteers can take a part in a packaging event from 10 a.m. to noon. church pastor richard mcdowell mentioned that they see the requirement of those who are poor and don&rsquot have adequate food. richard mcdowell and members of the rodes congregation wish to be in ministry to those people and ensure that they have adequate food to eat to go along with their daily lives. this is the first time that the church will work with stop hunger now before. mcdowell mentioned that, from some of his members, he got the concept for the packaging project. these members had been engaged in similar events elsewhere. he further said that they were extremely excited about helping individuals in needy areas and overseas. from the rodes congregation, around 30 or so members have take a decision to volunteer their time for this event. however, mcdowell also mentioned that they are searching more people to help, and anyone is welcome to contribute their time for the event. after the meal packets are packaged and prepared, the organization will collect the boxes and take them to a storehouse located in lynchburg to await their transfer overseas. source of information httpwww.newsadvance.comnelsoncountytimesnewsarticlef390f89eb28411e2aa8d0019…
