indian institute of packaging iip, which is planning to set up its campus here, has asked ap industrial infrastructure corporation apiic to highlight the investment potential in the proposed packaging park at the sixth international packaging exhibition indiapack2015 being held in mumbai from october 8 to 11.team visita highlevel team of iip, comprising its chairman r.v.s. ramakrishna and director n.c. saha, were here last month to study the request for establishing a campus in the city. the team, which found visakhapatnam most suitable for a campus due to its emergence as an industrial hub, had suggested the apiic and the district administration to explore developing a packaging park close to the iip campus.after their trip and talks with higher officials in hyderabad, the team submitted a report to the ministry of commerce and industries to consider the proposal. dr. saha in a letter to apiic chairman p. krishnaiah thanked the government for its promise to allot 10 acres free of cost at gambheeram.as the exhibition would attract several leading packaging units, they could be wooed for investments in the packaging park proposed to be developed in visakhapatnam, dr. saha informed mr. krishnaiah in a letter dated january 1.iip provides technical support related to packaging consultancy, testing and evaluation of packaging material and training involved to the packaging operation. the packaging park will have workshops and offices by packaging industries dealing with manufacturing of packaging material as well as machineries required for pharmaceutical, food, apparel, and other sectors.&ldquoin view of bright prospects to develop a packaging park and setting up a campus of iip, the state government should open a pavilion at indiapack2015,&rdquo vizag development council vicepresident o. naresh kumar said.
