jayplas completes multimillion pound investment to closetheloop on uk plastic recyclingannounces new packaging division to offer complete range of products to uk organisations from bagsonaroll to bags for lifenew blown film extrusion and printing operation increases packaging manufacture by 15,000 tonnes per annumgenuine closedloop capability allows finished goods to be 100 recycled and manufactured in the uk from primary raw materialjayplas, the uk&39s largest plastics recycler, has announced the completion of its installation of a new extrusion and printing plant and the creation of a new packaging division as part of the company&39s long term strategic investment to grow its nationwide recycling infrastructure. the 200,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in worksop is supported by a new ldpe wash plant in loughborough which recently installed an erema 212 to increase the company&39s output of recycled plastic granules by 20,000 tonnes. the processed plastic packaging products offer a closedloop solution by turning plastic waste into a range of retailer packaging products.the new division is a direct response to the uk retail industry&39s drive for greater levels of sustainability within their own supply chain through increased use of recycled plastics. for the first time it will allow them to reduce their carbon footprint by keeping all the stages of recycling from collection to distribution inhouse and in the uk. previously, a high percentage of plastics have been exported to asia for reprocessing.the new packaging division will offer organisations a complete range of sizes and types of recycled plastic bags from bagsonaroll to plastic bags for life designed and produced in the uk to their own specifications as part of a unique closedloop recycling process. as part of the process, jayplas segregates and sorts the plastic waste that is washed, reprocessed and converted to recycled pellets at stateofthe art plants in three jayplas uk locations. these pellets are then extruded into film before being converted into finished products as part of a total ukbased process."our commitment to investing in the uk&39s recycling infrastructure and closedloop solutions has put us at the forefront of the market, enabling us to provide a much shorter, traceable supply chain to our customers," commented michael maxwell, operations director at jayplas.
