it has forged a manufacturing order deal with apotex, the canadian pharmaceutical company, to execute the contract packaging for one of its pharmaceutical products. the contract between apotex and millmount healthcare was declared during enterprise ireland&39s trade mission to canada. richard bruton, ireland&39s minister for jobs, innovation and enterprise, is leading the trade mission that involves 30 irish companies. millmount healthcare was set up in 1999 by pascal keogh. it functions from citynorth business campus located in stamullen, co meath. it runs a highpotent packaging facility over there. toronto based apotex is canada&39s biggest producer of generic drugs. it produces about 300 generic pharmaceutical products. keogh said the deal with apotex denotes the company&39s first expedition outside of the european market. he further mentioned that despite they are well familiar to trading with noneuropean pharmaceutical companies these companies business model has always been centered on using millmount healthcare as a launch pad into europe. this is the first time that the destination for the completed product will be a noneuropean country. the company is also planning to hire another five employees to its current headcount of 120 people. bruton mentioned life sciences is one sector that offers potential for the irish companies in markets such as canada. he said the announcement made by millmount healthcare is a major win for the company, giving them their first base in this very important market, and it is a great paradigm of what is possible for other irish companies, as well. apotex&39s wendell clayton mentioned the company chose millmount as it has the ability to deal with smallseries, highpotent packaging. he also said the treaty is the start of a longterm partnership as apotex is looking for other business prospects with millmount healthcare. source of information httpwww.siliconrepublic.combusinessitem30125irishpharmaceutical
