in a major sustainability initiative, american fastfood giant kfc will soon serve coffee in edible cups at select stores in the uk.kfc&39s new edible cups dubbed, the "scoffee cup" are a result of collaboration with londonbased the robin collective.the scoffee cup is made from special waferlike biscuits, wrapped in sugar paper and lined with a layer of heatresistant white chocolate.robin collective says that the cups have been infused with different scents, including coconut sun cream, freshly cut grass and wild flowers.the trial of coffee cups comes as kgc gets ready to launch seattle&39s best coffee in its uk restaurants. sources say there are no plans of launching these cups in us restaurants yet.although kfc has jumped onto the edible packaging bandwagon, which is a relatively new concept, it is not the first to introduce edible cups.the publication adds that dominique ansel bakery first introduced "cookie shots" last year, which was basically a chocolatechip cookie shaped like a shot glass and filled with milk.consumer businesses across the world are looking for newer ways to reduce their environmental footprint related to packaging, with many restaurants already using lot of recyclable products.yum&39s international operations brand manager jocelyn bynoe was quoted by new york times as saying "we have been experimenting with edible packaging to see if it could be a feasible product to bring to market in limited quantities."
