L’Oréal and packaging maker Texen have joined forces to develop a new generation of caps made from 100% recycled polypropylene (rPP) for the beauty giant’s Biotherm brand.
The move forms part of L’Oréal’s drive to reduce the environmental footprint of its packaging.
According to Texen, the caps can be adapted to different shapes of jar for skin care formulas under the blue beauty player, including Cera Repair and Blue Therapy.
The visual aspect of the development was said to be especially important, with the pieces hot-stamped across their whole surface without any overlap, which is claimed to be a challenge when using this type of material.
The brand’s logo was created in reverse, intentionally leaving the raw material visible in the centre.
To reduce the environmental footprint, the adherence of the hot-stamping on the rPP enabled Texen to omit the application of protective varnish.
