leesburg &mdash the city&39s love week central florida 2015 comes to an end sunday, but not before a volley of events take place as part of the third annual ode to good deeds and community projects, including a major foodpackaging event and a hotdog and chili giveaway.the 20,000mealpackaging event for deliver the difference, a eustisbased hungerrelief organization, is slated from 9 a.m. to 1230 p.m. saturday at morrison united methodist church&39s gymnasium, corner of eustis and magnolia streets.emily givens, youth pastor at morrison, said the church is expecting roughly 100 middle and highschool students to help with assembling boxes, packaging the nutrientdense meals or loading trucks. youths from heritage community and good news churches, among others, are expected to participate."the cool thing about this is, it&39s mainly youth run," said givens, who has roughly 50 members in her youth group. "the adults will be supervising, but the kids will get their hands in there and package the food themselves."meanwhile, come as you are ministry, a community outreach organization will be giving away free hot dogs and chili from noon to 3 p.m. saturday in its parking lot at 1344 griffin road, leesburg.an open your heart rally with details on becoming a foster parent, sponsored by kids central is also slated from 10 am. to 1 p.m. saturday at gloria dei lutheran church, 130 s. lone oak drive.love week officially launched feb. 13 with a rally at leesburg city hall with nearly a dozen area churches, groups and organizations participating in several community projects, said mike matheny, a youth pastor at the father&39s house christian center in leesburg and a founder of the annual volunteer barrage of helping others."it&39s really about what we can practically do to make a difference in someone&39s life," he said. "when this all began three years ago, we envisioned getting everyone to serve their community in some way."this year&39s event has included a 5k love run feb. 14, benefitting beyond the walls food ministry, a community outreach of heritage community church in fruitland park and cleanups of leesburg and fruitland park elementary schools monday, during which dozens of volunteers painted, repaired and gussied up the school campuses, matheny said.a 15,000 gasgiveaway was also included in this year&39s event, he said.matheny, a father of six, said founders of love week central florida purposely chose the moniker to reflect their wish to see the annual event expand throughout the region, well beyond the leesburg and fruitland park areas."we want to it grow and hope it grows," he said.
