The Speyside Scotch whisky made its debut into the NFT (Non-Fungible Token) space in collaboration with BlockBar and Bored Ape Yacht Club with a collection of Bored Ape NFTs.
The partnership launched with a ballot for Bored Ape holders, in which 10 winners were selected to each put their very own ape onto a limited run of 100 Monkey Shoulder bottles, before earning royalties from subsequent bottle sales.
Bored Ape holders also received their first BlockBar bottle of Monkey Shoulder Original Malt Whisky on the house – a limited edition bottle created especially for the partnership.
Additionally, all existing BlockBar NFT holders will be set to receive 50% off bespoke, Monkey Shoulder NFT bottles, which can, according to the company, be bought and sold on the platform. Any remaining bottles from the NFT drop will then open to the public.
William Grant & Sons revealed that the winners from the ballot were ape numbers #410, #721, #1037, #2085, #2305, #4241, #6246, #6722, #6990, #8059 and announced that BlockBar will store the bottles in its facility in Singapore and every NFT can be “burned” and redeemed for the physical product, to be shipped anywhere in the world.
