atlantabased novelis has introduced evercycle, its first product in what it calls a new portfolio of certified highrecycledcontent aluminum designed for packaged food and cookware applications. novelis says evercycle will enable customers to produce infinitely recyclable products with a lower carbon footprint.the first product in the evercycle portfolio, certified by scs global services, an environmental stewardship firm headquartered in emeryville, california, has been designed for aluminum food containers, including steam, table and baking pans. the product contains 100percentrecycled aluminum, including up to 90 percent postconsumer content and 10 percent customer manufacturing scrap.novelis says the new product is the only material of its kind in the market. commercially available now in north america, evercycle is expected to become available globally as demand for the product grows.&ldquothe launch of evercycle marks an important next step in our longterm commitment to sustainable aluminum product innovation,&rdquo says phil martens, novelis president and ceo. &ldquoour evercycle aluminum appeals to customers who want to demonstrate their dedication to sustainability and attract the growing numbers of environmentally conscious consumers.&rdquo&ldquowe are pleased to have begun shipping evercycle earlier this year to major producers of food containers in the u.s.,&rdquo says marco palmieri, senior vice president of novelis and president of novelis north america. &ldquothis represents the first application of evercycle, but we are already developing other uses across our specialty products portfolio, including appliances and cookware.&rdquo
