packaging innovations exhibition had a launch of the oris flex pack web contract proofing bundle, which was partnered by cgs and esko contract quality proofs and packaging mockups were permitted for creation on a range of substrates by the bundle, along with a roland versacamm vsseries printer. revolution graphics, a uk distributor, stated that the move to contract quality packaging proofing resulted from a new cmyk ink set, and orange and green xg inks. the managing director of revolution, jan edgecombe, confirmed that the standard roland inks that are designed for the sign and graphics space are not as clean as the cmyk set. for high end contract proofing, this is similar to the highquality litho and flexo output, along with the extended gamut xg inks. edgecombe further said that in order to produce proofs on flexible substrates that include cellophane, the new cgs transfer media launch has revealed the market. he also explained that they have applied the ecosolvent coating, which is used for ecosolvent substrates, to an extremely thin and semiporous transfer paper. the image will be transferred, when you print on the transfer paper and put the cellophane on it before passing it through an encapsulator laminator. for printing of proofs and mockups on rigid substrates like aluminium and card, the use of the transfer media can be incorporated. edgecombe said that printing on card provides a semimatt finish. the bundle, which also has a starter media set, cgs rip and installation, has a price range beginning from £28,099 for the 30" roland versacamm vs as compared to bundles available for 42", 54" and 64" devices. access to the esko color engine spot colour database can also be bought by printers. the new ink set and cgs rip can be upgraded for the printers of existing roland versacamm users. paul bates, esko business manager of uk and ireland, stated that the evolvement of the company in a colourfocused business is indicated by its partnership with cgs. he further said that a tangible, colour accurate final proof is every brand owner&rsquos requirement, regardless of rapid advances in 3d visualisation software for packaging. therefore, despite print process, proof production can be colour managed, and the full extent of esko&rsquos open philosophy will be revealed by the roland print solutions and cgs&rsquos software. source of information httpwww.printweek.comnews1153141cgspartnerseskopackaginginnovationsevent&em…
