huntington huntington 30 mile meal is partnering with the west virginia food and farm coalition to host the second exhibition of local food producers in the huntington tristate area.the huntington local foods expo will take place at the big sandy conference center located in huntington from 130 to 5 p.m. on wednesday, march 25.the event will provide regional food growers, producers and processors with an opportunity to connect with buyers from restaurants, grocery stores, schools, institutions and other food venues. not intended for individual consumers, the event is intended to help foster longterm sales relationships between these buyers and farmers. the first huntington local food expo attracted over 80 growers, buyers and farm service providers.registration is required and costs 15 for all attendees. attendees will enjoy a tasting showcase of foods prepared with locally grown products, a group "speed dating" session helping farmers and buyers get to know each other, and a keynote speaker. an area of exhibition space will be reserved for organizations and agencies providing products and services that to assist producers, such as product liability insurance, food packaging products, training, and affordable loans. those interested in a booth can contact the event organizers for details.&ldquothe expo was a great success in 2013&rdquo lauren kemp, director of local food programs at unlimited future said, &ldquowe learned that buyers need some way to coordinate orders from multiple growers, in response we have added staff to discover how we can make more connections between farms and food service.&rdquowhen you register you can elect to be included in the buyer grower directory of local foods which will include detailed information about the needs of each buyer and the products available from each grower. the directory will be distributed to attendees at the expo and made available to the public online. buyers or growers who wish to be included, but are not able to attend the expo, can still sign up for the directory until monday, march 16.to register for the expo andor the directory, visit httpgoo.glk9iwef. to register by phone or if you have questions about the event, call 3046973007 to speak with the event coordinator lauren kemp lauren@unlimitedfuture.org. on march 24th, farmers are invited to a preevent training about expanding their sales into new markets. contact the event coordinator to register.
