Ready meals become crusty and browny in the microwave. Susceptor is used where an authentic conventional, ovencooked, toasted or grilled crispness is required in microwaveable food. In the microwave, part of the microwave heat goes through the non metallised areas small crosses and directly reheats the product. Microwaves are stopped by the film and absorbed by the packaging. These microwaves make the temperature of the packaging increase 260°c, heating the moisture between the product and the packaging so that the product becomes crusty and browny.
