With the growth of the food packaging sector nearly doubling to 13.7% in the last four years and the rising concerns over food quality, there is an increasing focus on regulatory aspects related to the packaging designs, labeling and printing regulations. While maintaining quality and reducing wastage has been at the forefront for increased production fueled by rising consumer demand it has become important for Food companies to have a competitive edge by developing an integrated system of packaging which not only safe but also cost effective for the companies. The Government has been initiating various steps which include tightening labeling rules and making it mandatory for companies to clearly mention the dates of manufacturing as a part of its ‘Make in India’ initiative.
