Automatic sorting and grading module to increase efficiency and profitability for food manufacturers shanghai, china. June 21, 2011 &ndash mettlertoledo garvens has launched the xgrader xg 300 in asia, an automatic sorting and grading module that classifies individual food products such as poultry, fish and raw meat, according to weight zones. Easily integrated with all mettlertoledo checkweighers, the automated system eliminates manual sorting errors, accelerates the sorting process with speeds of up to 120 pieces per minute, and increases product hygiene. By improving production line efficiency, eliminating waste through decreasing sorting errors and reducing labour costs, the new grader will directly boost profitability levels for asian food manufacturers.
By integrating the xgrader into their production lines, manufacturers benefit from a streamlined and accurate process. The xgrader classifies the product weight value received from the checkweigher for each individual product, and photoelectric sensors trigger the respective swing gate immediately at product arrival. The swing gates gently guide the products to lateral outlets, ensuring the appropriate handling and sorting of sensitive products. The xgrader is independent from the checkweigher so vibrations caused by mechanical movements during the sorting process do not affect weighing accuracy.
All contact parts of the xgrader feature food quality materials that are extremely stable, inert, and taint and tastefree. This ensures that there is no potential for product contamination, which makes the xgrader ideal for use in food processing and production. &ldquoindividual food products such as shrimp, poultry or fish are highly in demand from asian consumers. In order to meet this demand while guaranteeing quality, asian manufacturers need to streamline their production lines with as little downtime as possible. The addition of the automated xgrader helps manufacturers deliver on volume and quality concurrently,&rdquo said dirk bettels, product manager, mettlertoledo garvens.
The xgrader is available with six or eight grading outlets, respectively known as the xg3006 and xg 3008 models. Its flexible design enables it to be upgraded according to manufacturer product line expansion plans. The plugandgo concept facilitates the extension of the xg3006 to 12 grading outlets and the xg 3008 to 16 grading outlets with minimal investment and setup time. The system is operator friendly with a touch screen and structured interface, reducing operating and training time. Also, all production data such as weight totals and counters per outlet chute can be accessed at any point of time, which allows instant corrections to the production process.
The new xgrader is part of mettlertoledo&rsquos product inspection technology portfolio, which includes xray, metal detection and checkweighing solutions.
